08:00 The tour guide will pick you up at your hotel.
We will depart from Hue on a local ferry that crosses the Tam Giang Lagoon. Here, you will learn how fishermen use fishing nets to catch fish, take some photos, or simply refresh your mind. There is nothing more wonderful than sitting on the boat, watching the subtle beauty of Tam Giang.
We will follow small roads through the countryside and along the coast, arriving at the Vinh Moc Tunnels, where an entire village went underground in the 1960s to survive the bombing. The complex of tunnels, located deep in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone, includes wells, kitchens, and rooms for each family. After exploring the Vinh Moc tunnels, we will pass through the tunnel that leads to the local beach.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Hien Luong Bridge, known as the “Peace Bridge.” This beam bridge, built from steel by the French in 1950, marks the border between North and South Vietnam. We will also visit the Ben Hai River, an important landmark in the partition of the country into northern and southern zones along the 17th parallel by the Geneva Accords of 1954. Then, we will cross the “floating bridge” and visit the Quang Tri Citadel, which endured 81 days and nights of fire bombing in 1972, before returning to Hue.
