Mekong Delta 2 Days (Vam Xang)
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh – Can Tho (L/D)
You will be picked up at 08:00 from the hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and then driven to Can Tho. Arrive at noon, have lunch, and check in.
14.00 You will depart from Vam Xang Rustic Home. The ferryman will carry passengers to the opposite riverbank. There, you will experience cycling on the country road with various orchards, breathing the fresh air, and feeling the leaves rustling in the wind. On the cycling tour, you will have an opportunity to visit the knife smithy, listening to the story of the blacksmith. Then, at another destination, if you are a flora lover, this activity is for you to try potting seedlings at a bottle-gourd plantation. Last but not least, one activity that you should not miss when travelling to the Southwest region is making Southwest folk cakes (Banh Chuoi – also known as Vietnamese banana cakes) with local pastry cooks.
Returning to Vam Xang Rustic Home.
Have dinner and overnight in a bungalow
Day 2: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Ho Chi Minh (B/L)
05.00 You will be picked up at Vam Xang Rustic Home by a small boat trip, experiencing and discovering the early morning life of local people in the countryside along a branch of the Hau River (small canals). Listening to birds singing, rivers flowing, and trees whispering through the green canal will be promised to bring you unique and peaceful moments.
Moreover, you will see the beautiful sunrise on the way to Cai Rang Floating Market. This rare moment cannot be overlooked, especially for photo lovers.
After about 45 minutes by boat, the Floating Market will welcome you with its variety of boats with different types of commodities and activities. Do not be astonished when you see local people there washing their clothes, cooking dishes, or even children swimming in the river. You will have an opportunity to enjoy “floating noodle soup” as breakfast on the boat.
Next, a ferryman will take you to one of the local traditional Hu Tiu manufacturers. Hu Tiu is considered traditional white noodles in Vietnam. At this destination, you can explore the Hu Tiu-making process and enjoy Hu Tiu Pizza, a combination of Hu Tiu from Vietnam and Pizza from the West countries will bring you a special taste. Keep going on the ‘floating’ journey, the ferryman will let you drop by a local fruit garden to taste the fresh fruits.
Coming back to the hotel, or check out in the early morning, and stop the tour at the local boat station. Have lunch. Transfer back to Ho Chi Minh
